School Meals

At St John's , we use 'Dolce'   to provide our school meal service. Cooked meals, including a vegetarian option are prepared daily in our kitchen and often include pasta, salad , fresh fruit and yoghurt.  Dolce  use a computerised system called ‘Live Kitchen’ which enables parents/carers to log in and view menu choices and nutritional values. It also allows you to order meals in advance at home with your child.

The menus rotate on a 3 weekly basis and here is an example of what is available.

The price for a school dinner is £2.20 per day and all payments need to be made via your 'Live Kitchen' account either by direct debit or credit or debit card.

If you would like any more information about school dinners please talk to the office staff on 0161 338 5821.

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a free school meal funded by the Government through a programme called Universal Infant Free School Meals. Older children may also be eligible for a free school meal if their family is in receipt of

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit.

It is really important to register your child for a free school meal even if they are receiving a free meal already as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals or if they are an older child but has packed lunches. This is so the school can receive additional funding called Pupil Premium which we can use to help your child while they are at St John's. You can find more information on The Pupil Premium here.

Please apply for free school meals here

or complete a 'free school meal registration form' available from the school office.

Packed Lunches

Packed lunches should be in a secure named container.  We encourage lots of fruit or vegetables  Water is available on all tables for children who choose a packed lunch.  However, your child can bring their own drink in a non-breakable container – please avoid fizzy drinks.
